Always on Mission

Feasters of Daily Bread!
Vessels of the Most High God!

When Jesus saw the crowd around Him, He gave orders to cross to the other side of the lake. Matthew 8: 18

Do you ever read something in the Bible and go, wait, what?
Why was Jesus walking away—When— He saw the crowd.
Wouldn’t when He saw the crowd, stay and hang out, speak to them?
Why go the opposite way?
Isn’t that the opposite of His character?

So, when reading scripture we need to interpret scripture with scripture, to know the context.

And it is also why, God gave us four versions of the gospel to learn from.

In the context, He is talking about having no place to rest His head.
That animals have places to rest, dens (caves), nests where they sleep, sit, rest from work, rest from the day.

And then He tells someone to follow Him, on His mission.
For He is on a mission from God, with short window of time to do all that He was called to do.

He, in this context is telling us, it is not time for Him to rest from work in the daylight.
That it is not time for Him to go to the tomb and rest from His completed work.

And in the gospel of Luke, we find exactly why He needed to leave that crowd, for He tells us directly.

In Luke 4: 43, He leaves the crowd telling them, He must go to proclaim the good news of the kingdom of God to the other towns also. That, that is Why He was sent.
He lets us know that while it is daylight, before His tomb resting of completion, He must keep on preaching to everyone.

So, while He would have rested with those who were already following Him and believing, He needed to continue to go share His good news with everyone He could until the time for His sacrifice, resting from His completed mission.

May we know that we know that we know, Jesus’s perfect sacrifice sent the Holy Spirit—Jesus’s perfect Spirit—out to call people, going to everyone, and anyone—never resting—until each person on this planet has heard the good news, including everyone we love, like, or even know, that all would have the opportunity to choose Him and be saved forever.

May we know that we know that we know, that when we don’t understand a scripture, God has made provision in other parts of the Bible, that we would understand His heart and His mission, that we be encouraged to all truth, Him and His overwhelming love for all people.
