Everyone Who Knocks!
Those Who Will Eat from the Tree of Life
Those Who Will Drink from the Cristal Waters From the Lambs Throne
For everyone who asks, receives; the one who seeks finds, and to the one who knocks the door will be opened. Matthew 7: 8
When I was younger, I would claim this for so many things I needed and wanted in this life.
That is the child like faith we walk in.
And those truths still apply, that we can claim this over our life.
For God is so good. Not only in the way He speaks to us but also in the way that He promises to take care of us. And offers us everything.
But I also found a deeper truth in this scripture.
For the door that we are knocking on is the door to Heaven.
God mentions the door frequently in scripture.
But the door is often mentioned being closed for those who did not receive Christ, during this season of life.
The door mentioned in Revelation 4 though, the one to Heaven is wide open.
So we wouldn’t need to knock on a door that is open to us.
For today we have the opportunity to believe in the gospel, the truth of Jesus Christ, right now.
But yet the other doors mentioned in scripture specifically at the ten virgins is a closed door.
Maybe I’m getting too deep into the details.
But I thought the door is closed after a season,
That there are people outside the door.
That the five unwise virgins are knocking at the door.
And Jesus tells them to go away He doesn’t know them.
But Here He says if we ask, we receive, if we seek we find, if we knock the door will be opened.
I know that if we seek God now, He will join us.
But I am constantly seeking for others around me to believe in Jesus Christ and be saved too.
And I was thinking about the season we are living in.
For the fig leaf is in bloom and the leaves are tender-being Israel again-- in its place awaiting the Messiah.
And this scripture is a promise and guarantee that if anyone asks, they receive salvation.
It’s also a promise that we receive the Holy Spirit, who is the seal of eternal life.
And I thought that God in His mercy is even showing us that He will save people—those who knock on the closed door of Heaven—even in the tribulation, they will be saved.
For He has already promised to make himself known to His Jewish brothers and sisters in the tribulation. It gave me hope in this urgent rushing time, the end barreling down on us, that even if I’m not seeing all those I want saved today, to speak the words I’ve been praying for, for years, that God’s mercy keeps going and going.
And that even this very devotional might be the light for those left behind, to hear and believe, knocking on the closed door that opens still.
May we know that we know that we know the season we are living in, that we would tell everyone and anyone about Jesus Christ, that they would be saved too.
May we know that we know that we know there is always hope for our loved ones.
