Filthy Vs Splendor

Those who Ask And It Will Be Given To Them!
Those Who Live In The Eternal Confidence Knowing They Have Been Given The Request We Asked Of Him!

Now Joshua was dressed in filthy clothes as he stood before the angel. The angel said to those standing before him, Take off his filthy clothes. Then he said to Joshua, See I have taken away your sin, and I will put fine garments on you. Zechariah 3: 3-4

In this chapter the prophet Zechariah is sharing His God given vision.
Joshua was the leader of the Israelites after Moses passed.
He was the one who got to lead the people into the Promised Land.
And here we see what that is going to look like.

Joshua is standing before an angel.
We are told Joshua’s clothes are dirty.
Not just dirty but filthy.
The word actually means of related to excrement.
So super gross, dirty, yuck clothing, in God’s eyes.

But then we see that God says I have taken away your sin.
I am giving you new fine clothes.
The definition is a mantle, a robe of state, splendid costly garments.

We see what Joshua needs to enter the Promised Land.
Which then is to see what the Israelites will need to enter the Promised Land.
Which then is to see what all people, everyone who came after, needs to enter the Promised Land.

That this is how God sees all of us at first.
That we are all clothed in very dirty coverings.
That we need our sins taken away.
That we need to be covered with the fine clothing.
That this will allow us to enter into our Promised Land.
That this will allow us to lead others into the Promised Land.

That God is the one that shows us what we are covered with.
That God is the one that shows us our need.
That God is the one that provides for the need.
Then He is the one who takes away our sins.
Then He is the one who supplies the new clothing.

That all of this foreshadows Jesus.
That all of this shows us what Jesus offers.
That all of this shows who Jesus would be and what He would do.

That Jesus, the Messiah, would teach us, reveal to us what was covering us, preventing us from the forever Promised Land of God.
That Jesus, the Messiah, would point out our needs to be able to enter into the forever Promised Land of God.
That Jesus, the Messiah, would then be the one who takes away our sins—our filthy clothing— so that we can enter this forever Promised Land of God.
That Jesus, the Messiah, would be the one that would provide this fine new clothing, this robe of state, this splendid covering, our new roles, our new purposes, our new eternal hearts and minds that make us a part of the Promised Land of God.

May we know that we know that we know God telling us our clothes are dirty, showing us our need for Him, is mercy, so that we receive all that He offers us, the Promised Land, a place that always prospers, a place where love reigns, a place where sickness and death no longer exist, a place that is filled, overflowing and saturated with the everything’s we hoped for in this life.

May we know that we know that we know everything we need for the Promised Land— God’s Kingdom, eternal life, forever life beyond the grave, the good good future living in the presence with the God of the Universe—comes because of and through Jesus Christ.

May we know that we know that we know Jesus offers this clothing of splendor to all people, to all generations, that all get a chance to enter into the eternal Kingdom of Light and Love, the Forever Promised Land of God, and all we have to do, is ask Jesus for it.
