Keeping Vigil
Those Who Hear Him Singing Over Us!
Those Who Feel The Warmth From His Arms!
Because the Lord kept vigil that night to bring them out of Egypt, on this night all of the Israelites are to keep vigil to honor the Lord for the generations to come. Exodus 12: 42
When reading this I thought how intimate, how lovely.
That God was keeping watch all night long.
That He was keeping a night watch, a careful observance over them.
And it is an interesting statement because God is always watching.
He sees us all the time.
He doesn’t need sleep.
For He is God.
So I thought God is making a point to let them know, how much He cares about them.
He is making a point to let them know how important this night is to Him.
He is making a point to let them know how important this night is for all people to remember.
That He is not only watching them but that He is hovering over them, wrapping His arms around them like a hen covering its chicks, guarding them, keeping them safe, keeping them warm, keeping them at peace.
His eyes are not only on them but His eyes on are everything and anything trying to come near them, that He keep them safe.
That He was even celebrating over them, doing this with a wide-eyed smile, knowing their freedom was so close.
For God was reclaiming His children, the very thing He has been working toward since creation.
That He was now going to start leading them on a new path, a new way.
That He was finally getting to lead His people on their new journey to the beautiful land He had prepared for them.
That He was finally getting a little closer to have His children as His again.
That He was finally getting to reveal more of His plan for all humanity.
So He tells them that they need to remember this night forever, the night when God the Father, gave them the Passover Lamb, the foreshadowing of Jesus Christ and His sacrifice to come, that would bring all people the option to be His child again.
May we know that we know that we know we can all have this night, the Passover, the night we believe and receive Jesus Christ as Lord and Savior, that the death angel pass over us too, forever.
May this bring that it bring that it bring comfort knowing God is keeping vigil over us, watching over us, keeping us safe, now and forever, the moment we believed and received Jesus Christ.
May we know that we know that we know if we have not yet believed, God is looking, watching and longing to celebrate with you, that you become part of His Kingdom, too.
