Jesus is teaching us who we obey matters.

He shows us constantly throughout scripture that we become the children of those we obey.

In Genesis 6 God spoke of Sons of God and daughters of humans. Meaning there was a line of men following God and a line of women who were following humans, human ways.
Because they were following their ways, He called them after them.

With David when his wife, Michal, started obeying her father’s old ways of jealousy against David, God calls her Saul’s daughter, in the Bible.

So when Jesus is calling us to obey Him, to show Him love, He is showing us the way to be covered in Him.
That we become like Him when we obey Him,
That we show out more of Him when we obey Him.
That we take on more of His characteristics when we obey Him.
That we look more like Him, because we think more like Him.
That we will be able to love more like Him and do the things of Him, when we obey Him.

May we know that we know that we know that as we obey Jesus we get more of Him.

May we know that we know that we know that as we obey Jesus we become more like Him.

May we know that we know that we know that as we obey Jesus we show Him more love and His love shows out through us more.
