As soon as Simon Peter heard him say, “ It is the Lord” he wrapped his outer garment around him (for he had taken it off) and jumped into the water. John 21: 7

The Holy Spirit puts every word in the Bible for a reason.
So there is a reason that God/Jesus/the Holy Spirit are telling us that Peter had taken off and put back his outer garment.
Because outer garments were indicative to jobs, positions, callings.

Peter had denied Christ.
Then he went back to his old job fishing.
So he had taken off his outer garment, his new clothing of being a leader of ministry.
But when Jesus came to find him to redeem him, he put his garment back on.
He put his purpose back on.
He came back to his calling, following the Messiah, leading others to him.

It is encouraging to know that if even in seasons of discouragement, we think we have lost or we rebel against our calling, or even throw it away, Jesus comes to get us, and restore us and our calling.

May we know that we know that we know that Jesus comes to get us, to encourage us and keep us on the path that He had made for us.

May we know that we know that we know, Jesus sees us and knows our struggles and won’t leave us or let us lose all that He has called us for, even if at times, we cast it off.

May we know that we know that we know, Jesus, God, the Holy Spirit plans for us are bigger than any temporary set back and they will bring us back into wholeness.
