Rahab was a prostitute.
She protected the Israelite spies.
Then she and her whole family were saved from the destruction coming on Jericho.
We read in Jesus’s lineage that she was the great great grandmother of King David, whom God deeply loved.
When I read this, this morning, I asked myself, what kind of man marries a former prostitute.

Then I thought, Jesus does.

Jesus who died for the world’s sins chooses an ex-prostitute as a bride.
For we have all sinned and needed saving.
For we all loved something more at times than we loved God.
For we all needed to be redeemed from our broken world situations, no matter how broken they have been.
No one is excluded from the invitation.

May we know that we know that we know, Jesus says that every last one of us is welcome to His offering of unity for all eternity.

May we know that we know that we know, we can’t be good enough or bad enough to win or lose His love. He offers it freely to all.

May we know that we know that we know Jesus offers all of us that feel disqualified the highest honor, most cherished role, His intimate companion of life and life forever, to be His most special person.
