Costs, Gold, Forgiveness

Humble Children Exalted in Due Time!
Sons and Daughters Who Love Like Their Messiah!

Therefore the Kingdom of Heaven is like a king who wanted to settle accounts with His servants. As He began the settlement a man who owed him ten thousand bags of gold was brought to him. Matthew 18: 23-24

Jesus is telling this story.
He is making a parallel for people, those He is speaking to then and for us to come.
That we are the man who owed God ten thousand bags of gold.
He is giving us the impossible situation we find ourselves in.

The generation Jesus was speaking to, was under oppression from the Romans and were not in great possession of gold, money, or finances.
I imagine when they heard this number they gasped.
For who has ten thousand bags of gold of which they can repay any debt!

Jesus is giving an astronomical impossible fee trying to equate for us, the cost of His payment for us.
His payment for us, with His perfect living and then His sacrifice on the cross.
That paid for us to receive forgiveness for every trespass—of our mind, our thoughts, our hearts, our words, and our actions—from inception in the womb, until we pass from this life.

That we, like they, cannot pay for it.
It is simply impossible, an unfathomable amount.

And then He goes on to tell us, that God forgave this great debt for us, through Jesus, so that we would have gratitude to Him and mercy for those who owe us so little in this life—a hundred silver coins.

That this would empower us to forgive the minor trespasses of people to us.

May we know that we know that we know as we see what it cost Jesus to buy our new hearts, our new nature, from God, that we would be filled with gratitude that leads us in love, empowering us to forgive every person’s trespass against us in this life, living in humility knowing we have all needed a new nature, a new heart, to be able to love God and others the way we were called to.

May we know that we know that we know, those of us with the new heart and new nature, can help lead others to this truth of Jesus and His gift for us, through our love and Jesus like forgiveness that they would receive the new heart too becoming who they were always called to be too.
