And being in anguish, He prayed more earnestly and His sweat was like drops of blood falling to the ground. Luke 22: 44
Jesus was in anguish.
The core word means, gymnastic exercise.
Meaning that His struggle was so great it was like a physical feat, not just mental fighting.
Like He was running around a gym, pulling Himself up on parallel bars, flipping loops and contorting His body in spectacular form on the floor, walking the teeny tiny balance beam doing back flips then and pulling Himself up on the pummel horse and the gymnastic rings, supporting His weight on His shoulders in amazing strength able to control each strand of muscle in perfect flow while making it look easy.
That was what His prayer was like, the night He chose to let them arrest Him, mock Him, accuse Him and condemn Him.
That He did all that, that we, when we go through our struggles, we remember we have a savior who gets it.
Who understands the pain, the fear, the struggle in trials.
That He did all this, endured all this, for us.
That He did this that we would not have to suffer to the extent that He did.
That He did this, bore this weight, that we just receive His sacrifice, His payment, His perfect life and perfect death.
That we receive His Father, His God as our Father and our God.
That we receive His perfect heart that always obeys God, that we be seen as good, as new, and as Jesus as seen to God.
That we receive His standing in eternity, rewards of life eternal where sickness and death no longer exist, where we are welcomed into the arms of our Heavenly Father, where we get a new life, a new body, and new mission walking face to face with our Savior.
May we know that we know that we know if we are struggling right now, we can find comfort from the Messiah, the Savior, who went through so much more and has words to encourage and comfort us in this season.
May we know that we know that we know His purpose was to suffer like this, for us, that we just receive this free gift of life with God forever, being seen as holy and perfect in front of our Father, the moment we receive what Jesus did for us on the cross.
May we know that we know that we know Jesus offers this gift to all mankind, that all be brought into the Kingdom of Heaven, with everyone else who chooses to receive Jesus as Lord speaking this truth with their mouths, where our real lives start.
