Pointing To the Way

Those Who Get To See Their Father!!
Those Who Find Peace In His Sovereignty!

As long as Moses held up his hands the Israelites were winning but whenever he lowered his hands, the Amalekites were winning. Exodus 17: 11

The Israelites were being attacked.
The Amalekites came to where they camped and attacked them.
Moses stood over them.
And as they fought, Moses held up his hands towards Heaven.

Moses actions were showing us where our victories come from.
He is showing us that it is God who fights our battles.
That He is the one who will and did fight the ultimate battle for us.
For Jesus conquered the enemy of our souls.
That Jesus, His perfect obedience to God’s ways, His perfect thoughts, His perfect words, His perfect heart, laid down on the cross to pay for our diseased hearts, the sinfulness of mankind.
That He did what no one else could do.

It’s why Moses was physically standing over them, higher than them on a hill.
It was pointing both the Israelites and the Amalekites to God, to Heaven.
That He is one who raises up one kingdom and takes down another.
That He is sovereign over all things, over all battles, over all situations.
That every battle is in His hands.

It’s why when Moses puts down His hands, they start losing.
Because then the Israelites were battling only in their own effort against the forces of the world system, the system that seeks to make us slaves.
But when Moses re-raised his hands, they started winning again.
And God let the battle go on that whole day, that all the people see this.

That we see that all our efforts alone cannot save us.
That we see that we need God to save us.
That we see that He was the source of their victory.
That we would see that He is the source of our victory.

Moses sits on a stone when he gets tired.
Because God is pointing us to Jesus, the rock.
Jesus is the stone.
That Jacob (Genesis) rested his head on a stone and saw God.
That Jesus is the rock spoken of in Daniel, the Kingdom to come.
That Matthew tells us to build our house upon this rock.
That as we turn to Jesus, sitting on this stone, this rock, He gives us rest and fights our battles for us.
That we don’t fight in our natural strength but He does it for us, through us.

It’s so we will turn to God, through Jesus Christ, knowing, that through Him, every battle is won.
That we were all meant to live on, rely on, walk with, the Savior of the World.
That we need God to empower us to win our battles.
That we need God to be successful.
That we need God that we would live, that we would beat death.

For the Israelites were supposed to point all people to the One True God.
That when Jesus came, all would see Him and accept His sacrifice, accept His win over our battle against the fallenness of creation, that all people follow, be led by, become the children of the One True God, and enter His eternal Kingdom led by Jesus, that conquerors all kingdoms before it.

He is showing us the way to win this life.
To be under His leadership, to be under His protection
Which only comes through Jesus Christ the Messiah.

May we know that we know that we know everything in the Bible is to point us to the truth, that God loves us, wants us to follow Him that He give us victories over the grave through Jesus Christ, and become His children living in victory in His kingdom of joy, peace, love, health, and healing for all time.

May we know that we know that we know God will allow battles in our lives that we see His power, His sovereignty, His overarching covering for us, that we know He really is the way, the truth, and the life.

May we know that we know that we know this life is about growing to, learning to live on dependence on Him, our Father through Jesus Christ, for all our provision, for all our battles, the first most important battle, the battle for our eternal souls.
