The Power of Questions

Those Who Ask God For The Wisdom He Gives Generously To All Without Reproach!!
Those Who Ask And It is Given Them, Those Who Seek and Find, Those Who Knock and the Door is Opened!!!

When John, who was in prison, heard about the deeds of the Messiah, he sent his disciples to ask Him, “Are you the one who is to come, or should we expect someone else”. Matthew 11: 2

I had a soccer coach in high school.
She taught me to ask questions that I know the answer to.
She was trying to evoke learning in another coach and using this moment to teach me.
She was giving me a key to teaching, that I did not understand yet.

So often I spend my days, writing, explaining, giving the answers, expounding truths that God wants me to share,
Truths that encourage.
Truths that heal.
Truths that set people free.
Truths that give people hope.
Truths that bring people closer to Jesus.

I also spend a lot of time evangelizing.
Telling people about Moses.
How he didn’t enter the promised land because he didn’t speak to the rock of Jesus Christ.
That this would prompt them to call on the name of Jesus and be saved forever.

But in my small group Bible studies lately, I found that I need to do more of what my coach taught me, what John is teaching people-the method of how rabbis taught.
Asking questions.
Questions that teachers know the answer to.
Questions that will evoke a person to come up with the right answer.
Questions that will make the Savior, their Savior.
Questions that will bring a person closer to their Savior.
Questions that allow a person to own the truth, because they came up with the answer.

And this is what we see through John the Baptist, here.
Giving us a key on how to teach.

John was in prison.
John’s job was to point all people to the Messiah, Jesus Christ.
So he sent his disciples, to go ask Jesus who He was.
Because John was still trying to fulfill his commission, even though he was limited physically by jail.

So John sends his followers to Jesus, having them, ask Jesus a question.
Which led them to know, that they know, that they know, Jesus really is the Messiah.

May we know that we know that we know asking people questions that invoke their hearts and minds to engage in their faith walk, brings great, great rewards and growth in that person’s faith helping make their faith, their faith.

May we know that we know that we know John the Baptist, Jesus, and God, along with rabbis show us this method of teaching, that we would become the teachers we are all called to be, teaching and leading everyone and anyone to Jesus Christ, the Messiah, The Healer, The Savior of Mankind.

May we know that we know that we know John the Baptist also modeled for us, a great great way to point people to the Lord of All, that they be saved, simply sending them to ask Jesus, Who He is, for He is faithful to show them.
