The Redeemed Crying Out
New Creations in Christ Jesus!
The Redeemed of the Lord Who Say So!
We have acted very wicked towards you. We have not obeyed the commands, decrees and laws you gave your servant Moses. Nehemiah 1: 7
Nehemiah is crying out to God on behalf of His people Israel.
It’s what prophets did.
Jeremiah did it.
Daniel did it.
They took on the sins of all the people on themselves and repented for all their people.
It’s foreshadowing of what Jesus would do for us.
He repented for all people, took on the sins of all people, wearing our shame and sins, that He could pay for them at the cross for us.
This statement from Nehamiah isn’t meant to made us feel bad but indeed make us all feel relieved.
That as we look through the Tanakh—The Old Testament—we see that each generation of humanity couldn’t keep the decrees or laws or commands.
It was meant to show us all that we needed Him.
It was meant to show us that none of us could live perfectly.
It was meant to show us our need for a Savior.
And it was meant to prepare us for the One to Come—For us the One who has already come and completed this need for us, Jesus Christ the Messiah.
That as we receive His work on the cross, we receive the new heart, God’s immortal perfect heart, that puts us in the state of being redeemed, the state of empowered to do all that God calls us to do in this life, love Him and love others—which is what every command, decree, and law was about.
May we know that we know that we know God gave us people before us to show us our need for Him, that we wouldn’t have to struggle like those before us.
May we know that we know that we know once we have received the new heart, we are living in the redeemed state of being and are daily being led and able to love Him and love others, which keeps all His commands.
May we know that we know that we know once we have become the redeemed, we get to cry out on behalf of everyone around us like the prophets and our Messiah before us, that they become the redeemed too.
