Those Who Breathe The Sweetest Air!

While Jesus was in Bethany, in the home of Simon the Leper, a woman came to Him with an alabaster jar of very expensive perfume, which she poured on His head as He was reclining at the table. Matthew 26: 6-7

Has anyone else read this and tried to imagine what would it be like to be at that party?
That, this is not normal party behavior.
At least for us, today.
I thought, that’s a really intimate thing to do and to do in public.
But maybe that is the point.

In Ezekiel and other places, the Holy Spirit is referred to as breath.
He literally moves inside us and fills us up on the inside.
We can’t be more close.
We can’t be more one with God, than God becoming the very breath we breathe.

Jesus says that where ever this gospel is preached, what this woman did will also be preached.

Because she was loving Jesus and worshiping Jesus without abandon, publicly.
She was choosing to give Him the intimate relationship, that He wants to give all of us.

For when we receive Jesus—as Lord and Savior—giving Him our hearts like this woman did, He will be so close to us, coming to live inside us, that He will become the very breath in our lungs.

May we know that we know that we know Jesus wants to be the very breath we breathe, the life inside our lungs, and hearts, coursing through every part of our bodies, forever intwined, forever filling us with life, and love and joy, today, tomorrow and forever.
