Those Who Ask and Receive A New Beginning!
David was the father of Solomon, whose mother had been Uriah’s wife. Matthew 1: 6
David was in the lineage of Jesus, the Messiah.
God promised David, that he would never fail to have an ancestor on the throne.
So Jesus came through His line.
The line that went through David’s son Solomon.
And in this we see a beautiful picture of God’s forgiveness for our mistakes.
For Solomon’s mother was married to one of David’s most loyal men-Uriah.
King David had an affair with Uriah’s wife.
Then sent Uriah away into battle, where he died.
David then married pregnant Bathesheba-Uriah’s widow.
That child died.
But God gave them Solomon after.
Solomon who God gave the greatest wisdom to.
Who got to be the next king of Israel.
Who got to have an intimate relationship with God Himself.
Who got to be the one who built the temple of God on earth.
Who got to be in the lineage of the King of the world, Jesus.
Who even got to be an allegory of who the Messiah, Jesus, would be: The wisest King that ever existed that brings prosperity, peace and unity to the world.
In this scripture, we see that God is not hiding the fact that Solomon’s parents made some big mistakes.
That God is explicitly pointing this out in this scripture.
That He wants everyone to know this story.
That all would know that He is a redeeming forgiving God.
David did repent and suffer.
God brought judgement on David for a season.
They lost that child.
Uriah went on to eternity, where he never had to suffer again.
But God did not take away David’s promise of having an ancestor on the throne.
But God did not stop loving David.
But God did not punish Solomon for his parent’s choices.
For Jesus came to give us a new heart and new mind, that leads us on His best path.
His ways that lead us, to love Him with all our heart, mind, and soul. That we enter into His Kingdom of life, love, health and healing, the only way to live forever and not suffer for all time.
His new heart and new mind that leads us to love one another.
His new heart and new mind that leads us to be good to all people. His new heart and new mind that leads us to take care of widows and orphans,
His new heart and new mind that leads us to do unto others as we would have done to us.
His new heart and new mind that leads us to forgive each other, love those who hate us, and bless those who curse us.
That we actually need Jesus to be able to do this.
God knew that about David.
God knew that for all the people before us.
For everyone before us, before Jesus walked in the natural, is there to be a wonderful example for us, showing us, that we need Jesus.
That we can’t be who God wants us to be without Him.
That we can’t be who we want to be without Him.
May we know that we know that we know every example in the Bible is meant to point us to our need for Jesus.
May we know that we know that we know that Jesus came that we would be healed, redeemed, set free from our mistakes, and given a new life, a clean slate, a new start!
May we know that we know that we know this life, this season, is where we make our mistakes, that leads us to find that we need this redeeming forgiving savior King Jesus, that we be given His mercy and get that new start, today, every day!
