Ears For Hearing
Blessed Are Our Eyes For They See!
Blessed Are Our Ears For They Hear!!
Blessed Are Our Hearts That Have Turned and Are Being Healed!!!
Then Simon Peter, who had a sword, drew it and struck the high priest’s servant, cutting off his right ear. (The servant’s name was Malchus.) John 18: 10
I was reading this and wondered why the man’s ear.
That Simon Peter, full of fight for Jesus, cut off the man’s ear.
Why not the man’s hand, that was carrying weapons against Jesus or seeking to lock chains on Jesus.
Why not seek greater harm inflicted in the core of his body, preventing him from taking Jesus.
Everything in scripture is here to testify of Jesus Christ.
Everything in here is meant to speak to us.
That we see greater truths unfolding of God’s kingdom.
When reading this it reminded me of what the prophet Isaiah said of Israel.
That they would be ever hearing but never understanding.
Malchus-the man with the ear cut off-his name means, king or kingdom.
So his ear being cut off was just foreshadowing that these people, this generation of the kingdom of Israel were like people without ears.
That they did not receive what Jesus was teaching, the good news of how to have life forever in a place without death, sickness, or suffering.
But what is lovely about this, is that Jesus Himself heals this man.
That Jesus heals the cut off ear of the man who was seeking to bring injustice and death to Jesus.
Meaning that Jesus Himself, knowing His people were unable to hear His good news truth at that time, would come and heal Israel’s ear.
That they would come to know Jesus and hear His words, His truth, and become part of the True Kingdom.
It’s what Jesus does for all people.
For we were all born on the wrong team.
For we were all born with ears that were closed to the truth.
But Jesus comes to us all.
He comes and speaks to us.
He comes to love on us.
He comes to show us the way to live forever.
He comes to open our ears to hear His good news of His payment, His perfection, His sacrifice, His Spirit, His Kingdom.
May we know that we know that we know everything written in scripture testifies of Jesus Christ.
May we know that we know that we know God did this that we would hear His good news, believe and receive it by asking Jesus into our hearts.
May we know that we know that we know no matter Jew or Gentile, this is an offering for us, that we hear His beautiful life giving choice, in this generation and not miss out on eternal life with the Lover of Our Souls, the Maker of Heaven and Earth, the One Who Knit Us Together In our Mothers Womb, Who Never Leaves us Nor Forsakes Us.
