Teacher!

Those Who Find The One Teacher!
Those Who Learn From The God of gods, The Lord of Kings, The Revealer of All Mysteries!!

Jesus said to her, “Mary”. She turned toward Him and cried out in Aramaic, “Rabboni” (which means “Teacher”). John 20: 16

I read this and thought, thank you.
Having studied linguistics, and many languages in my life.
I learned that languages change over time.

My British friends and I used to joke that we were divided by a common language.
That we would use the same words but they did not have the same meaning.
Because in my southern world, biscuits are soft flour-based, butter covered, savory breads that I eat with breakfast.
Not sweet chewy flour-based treats sometimes filled with chocolate chips, I call cookies, that are desserts eaten later in the day.
Although technically, I have had a cookie for breakfast at times.

Here we see the beauty of our Father.
Here we see the foresight of our Savior.
Here we see the preparation of the Holy Spirit.
That He tells us what the word means.
Knowing that language migrates.
Knowing that so many readers, listeners of this word, would not know this term of affection.
Because most of us have not and will not speak or read Aramaic in this life.

So we don’t assume and miss something.
So we know what she was saying.
So we know what His first disciples called Him.
So we know their relationship.
So that we know what our relationship should look like.
So that we know what we should call Him.

Teacher

Which is what He was doing all the time, teaching people.
Teaching people His truth.
Teaching people His way.
Teaching people the only way to live forever.
Which is to believe in Him.

Mary was seeking Jesus as a teacher.
But she found her Savior.
Her teacher who had just walked out of the grave alive.

And it’s what He does for all of us.
That His teachings will lead us to salvation.
That His teaching will lead us to healing.
That His teachings will lead us to life.
That His teachings will lead us to know Him as the Savior of the World.
That His teachings will lead us to know He is our very own Savior.

May we know that we know that if we seek to know Jesus as a teacher, no matter where we started, even in other religions, we will find like Mary did this day, that Jesus is also our all-powerful, death cannot hold Him, Savior of the World.
