Made Known To Us

Those Who Will Be Guided Into All Truth!
Followers Who Receive Their Helper, Their Advocate, Their Friend, Their Seal For Eternal Life!

He will glorify me because it is from me that He will receive what He makes known to you. John 16: 14

Jesus is speaking.
He is speaking on the Holy Spirit.
He is telling His disciples what to expect.
That they are going to receive His Spirit that will lead and guide them.
That He-the Holy Spirit-will glorify Jesus.
Meaning obey Jesus, honor Jesus, speak well of Jesus.

Jesus is preparing His people for Him leaving.
Promising this new gift, promising this new friend, promising this new leader.
Preparing their hearts and minds for this new season.

And it made me think of some conversations I have had with women.
Friends, sisters, that were pregnant.
They were nervous about the new season, welcoming their child into the world.
Wondering if they would like their child.
For they did not know this child inside them yet.
And they were worried if they would love them, like them at all.
Wondering what their child would be like.

And I relate that to these first believers.
That moment in time.
They thinking in their hearts, but who is this.
Will I like Him, will He be kind, will He be smart.
Will He help me, will He still heal me, will He like me.
Will I still have my purpose, will Jesus still be my Lord.

For Jesus they knew.
For Jesus they loved.
For Jesus they walked with daily.
He was leaving them, physically.
And He is promising something new, unknown to them.

So Jesus is comforting them.
That this Spirit is Him.
That this Sprit is Him leading them.
That this Spirit is His words being infused in them.
That this Spirit is His character coming to live inside them.
That this Spirit is one with Jesus, the Lord, the King, God.
That they don’t fear Him.
That they receive Him.
That they obey Him.

That is for us too.
The disciples of this season.
Those of us, who did not physically walk with Jesus.

Those of us who saw Jesus through the pages of the Bible.
Those of us who saw His kindness.
Those of us who saw His loving heart to the needy.
Those of us who saw His compassion to the hurting.
Those of us who saw His mercy to the sick.
That we know this Spirit, the Holy Spirit is Jesus, the one we have come to know and love.
So that we receive Him, His Spirit inside us, too.

May we know that we know that we know the way to receive Jesus to live inside us, His Spirit, the Holy Spirit, is simply to ask.

May we know that we know that we know this is what will give us life beyond this mortal life.

May we know that we know that we know this is why Jesus came at all, to give us His Spirit, that we be made new, restored to our perfect design, living with Him forever in a place of health, healing, joy, peace, and wonders beyond our greatest imaginations, where we will live in a completeness, in a fullness that highest of heights, the deepest of joys here is only a teeny tiny taste of what is to come.
